FANS

FANS is a set of communication and navigation technologies developed by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) to improve the safety, efficiency, and capacity of air traffic management. FANS is designed to enable aircraft to fly more direct routes, reduce fuel consumption, and reduce the amount of time spent in the air. It also provides more accurate and timely information to air traffic controllers, allowing them to better manage air traffic. FANS includes a variety of technologies, such as Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B), Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC), and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). These technologies allow aircraft to communicate directly with air traffic control and other aircraft, as well as to navigate more accurately and efficiently. FANS is currently being implemented in many countries around the world, and is expected to be fully operational by 2020.
