FAP

FAP is a point in the flight path of an aircraft that marks the beginning of the final approach to a runway. It is typically located between the outer marker (OM) and the runway threshold. The FAP is used to define the point at which the aircraft is established on the final approach course and is used to ensure that the aircraft is properly aligned with the runway before landing. The FAP is typically located at a distance of 3 to 5 nautical miles (NM) from the runway threshold. The exact location of the FAP is determined by the aircraft's performance characteristics and the approach procedure being used.
