IDS

An IDS is a computer security system that monitors a network or system for malicious activity or policy violations. It is a type of security management system that identifies and responds to suspicious activity. It is designed to detect malicious activity such as unauthorized access, malicious code, and malicious behavior. It can also detect attempts to exploit known vulnerabilities or to gain access to sensitive data. IDSs can be either network-based or host-based. Network-based IDSs monitor network traffic and look for suspicious activity, while host-based IDSs monitor the activity of individual computers. IDSs can be used to detect malicious activity such as denial of service attacks, port scans, and buffer overflows. They can also be used to detect attempts to gain unauthorized access to sensitive data or systems.
